Lawmakers urge Congress to support marketplace fairness.

The Senate’s recent symbolic vote in favor of the Marketplace Fairness Act of 2013 reveals strong support for remote sales tax legislation. Now, two of the bill’s original sponsors, Representatives Steve Womack (R-ARK) and Jackie Speier (D-CA), are urging members of Congress to support the Marketplace Fairness Act of 2013 as well.

In comments after a press conference held in front of the Capitol, Rep. Womack called upon Congress to “close the 20 year old tax loophole that has put the federal government in the business of picking marketplace winners and losers.” Rep. Speier said, “It’s time for our tax laws to catch up with the modern marketplace and take government out of picking retail winners and losers.”

Small business owners from across the country stood with the lawmakers to express their support for Marketplace Fairness.
